Victim No More: The Joan Pendergrass Story

Victim No More is a film about the Widow of the late Teddy Pendergrass who finds the courage to overcome abandonment, sexual abuse and cultural dislocation prior to meeting Teddy, and the chance meeting that changed both their lives leading to true undying happiness and love.   She was a woman who was sexually and emotionally abused, raped, a victim of incest, domestic violence, and abandonment.

THE JOAN PENDERGRASS STORY

"I believe that my testimonial will help to lift up some other young girl or young lady who is  going through a troubling or frightening time in their life." Joan Pendergrass

Her story unfolds with twists and turns, highs and lows, causing real life situations to play out as if they were made up by a Hollywood screenwriter. The truth however is much more revealing than any fictional account could ever match.

She was a woman who was sexually and emotionally abused, raped, a victim of incest, domestic violence, and abandonment. She has since learned how to reclaim her life and to regain control of it, Joan Pendergrass was a victim. Today, she is  a “Victim No More” and she has a story and a testimony to give.

Born out of wedlock as the bi-racial, bi-cultural off-spring of a well-to-do Lebanese father and “black” mother ion the island of Dominica, Joan’s story is both an instructive and cautionary tale that must be experienced to be believed.  A tale of sacrifice, hardship, emotional and physical trauma, but ultimately of triumph through the love she would come to share with Teddy.

The inspirational and educational full length documentary in production is her journey of her painful history, of her success as a business woman who finally found love for herself and of her love she would come to share with her “Star” and Quadriplegic husband Teddy Pendergrass.

By sharing her story, Joan wants to inspire others through her testimony.  Today she is a motivational speaker and ‘Change Agent”. She is on a warpath for positivity and helping other victims whom she will teach to say, “I am a Victim No More”.  She assures there is a life after the struggle and your past Does Not Dictate Your Future!
